Day 2 Day

my first kiss.

I was in love, fourteen, and nerdy as hell. I was pretty much the girl next door just with freckles, pimples, long scraggly hair thrown together in two Pippy Longstocking braids, and a mouth full of braces. Now picture that girl, me, vibrating and bumping along on the band bus with the rest of the marching band, clutching my French horn case beneath my feet, dressed to a T in my ever-so-stylish band jacket, and yes you guessed it, a kilt. This awkward freshman couldn’t get any sexier. If I wasn’t jittery enough about the FBA competition where we just had won straight superiors, my first real high school crush, Collin, was sitting right next to me on this long ride home. He had just broken up with his girlfriend of 2 weeks, Taylor and was rumored to be on the rebound. We were always good friends, since I was pretty much the only chick in band with an ounce of cool factor.

He was a fourteen-year-old girls’ dream. He had the total skater look with his long brown hair and braces. If that wasn’t enough he had a good taste in music and could play three Death Cab For Cutie songs on his guitar. That Saturday night he chose to sit on the back of the bus, with me, the luckiest girl at Riverview High School. As the bus thumped along on the road ahead we were bumping right along with it, accidently hitting each other’s bodies and coyly apologizing. “oops.. ah, uh, sorry”. The bus ride felt like it could go on forever. It was dark and there was a lot of commotion going on around us, from kids playing ‘Never Have I Ever’ to singing sing-alongs, but we barely noticed anything because we were totally consumed by whatever stupid preteen conversation we were having. “ow, haha sorry”. We hit body parts for the millionth time, but this time we made direct eye contact and before I could look away he lunged his face at mine, lips first. It was INTENSE. There was a lot of tongue in my mouth and I had absolutely no earthly idea what to do with it. His hand immediately grabbed the back of head and he started jostling my hair around. This kid was obviously a pro. I was overwhelmed with whatever was going on in and around my face that I didn’t feel his hand leave my head and slyly move onto my wool jacket. This kid had balls. Here we are on the bus with a million people we know and his hand is fondling my boob. Who did he think he was?! I guess I can’t complain, because I didn’t stop it. It was just a little traumatizing for my first ever kiss. I skipped hopped and jumped from a lip virgin to full on make out and boob grab queen in a matter of seconds.

It was like out of a movie, a movie only I could star in and direct and write and enjoy actually watching, but it was mine nonetheless. We made it back to school after our hot and heavy make out sesh was fully complete. We shuffled off the that darn bus and parted ways until we saw each other and the rest of the high school population who knew our dirty little secret bright and early Monday morning.

Day 2 Day

Ryland Panganiban

A few months ago I made a post featuring the beautiful and very pregnant Shannan Panganiban and her new puppy, Nala. Now I am so honored to present Shannan and Heath’s new baby son, Ryland.

After waiting four days past his original due date, taking multiple walks around Ellenton mall, and enduring over 30 hours of labor, their healthy little angel was born July 23rd at exactly 1pm! You go Shannan! It is absolutely unreal that my dear friends are now parents! Woah. I officially have friends who are parents! I am friends with a mom! It feels like it was just yesterday we were doodling cats in Biology and making poking fun of Dr. Wachs’ nonsense in Yearbook.

Ryland has such amazing role models to look up to. I know that the two of them will be the most stellar and cool parents out there. It is going to be an adventure watching Ryland grow over his lifetime and I am so glad to be apart it.

Come on, how precious is he?! Congrats Shanny & Heath!

I Like To Role Play

There are very few things in life I take seriously.

School – yes.

My job – yes.

My future – yes.

Myself – not so much…

I love to have a good laugh and most of the time it’s because of something I’ve done or said. Let’s face it, I think I’m hilarious. As an actor (I was in Noreen in Hairspray at USF remember) I enjoy putting myself into extreme roles and experimenting with new personas.

I call this role, the Badass.

In my mind I am a total badass. I constantly fantasize of wearing all black, dying my hair tips purple, rocking shirts from Killer Condo, and dating a guy with a motorcycle, beard, and a whole sleeve of tattoos. Seriously, who am I kidding? That’s so not me. But in order to not follow through with those crazy fantasies I think it’s important to pretend, even if it’s just for an afternoon.

For those of you who think I am taking myself seriously in any regard with this set of photographs please remember that this is a joke. Repeat. This is a joke.

Day 2 Day

Tampa Yoga in the Park

Thanks to Yoga Downtown anyone is able to enjoy the splendor that is Vinyasa flow yoga in the Curtis Hixon Park every single Sunday. I am always looking for new fun things to do in Tampa, preferably things that don’t involve eating or drinking, because that seems to be the main way people socialize in college. My physique and wallet are both paying the price on that one. When my friends and I saw that there was free yoga in the park we were ecstatic and planned our whole day around it.

It was everything we hoped it would be. The gentle Vinyasa flow was the perfect way to end our long stressful week and start our new week with a balanced and peaceful mind. The grass beneath our towels made it easy to find our center as we strengthened our bodies in warrior poses, chaturanga, and lots of downward facing dog. We had a little hiccup halfway through the class when the heavens opened up on Tampa and a torrential downpour began, but as a part of yoga and a part of life, we learned to be flexible and continued our flow beneath the awning. Right as we went into shavasana all you could hear was the thunder and rain all around us. It was a much needed way to end a Sunday and we will be going back every week. I hope to see you there.

Day 2 Day

Introducing, Nala Panganiban

The beautiful (and very pregnant) Shannan Panganiban got a fluffy new addition to her family this past weekend! Brianne and I had the pleasure of meeting her earlier this morning at the Farmer’s Market in Downtown Sarasota. This little heartbreaker was talk of the town! Nearly everyone stopped to pet the three-month-old labrador retriever and she did a stellar job staying cool with all of these strangers feeling her soft fur, especially for it being her first time out in public. She was the cutest thing there, people included!

Without further ado, here is Nala!
